Local History Museum of Kalushchyna

The museum was founded on December 28, 1997. The museum area is 145 m2. The exposition is located in the building of the former Jewish community, which is an architectural monument of the early 1930s. The basis of the exposition is more than a thousand exhibits, of which several hundred are originals. Main areas of activity: research into the history of the city of Kalush and the district.

In December 1999, two halls were given over to an art gallery, which exhibited works by local artists. After 2005, the format of the gallery was changed to short-term exhibitions.

In 2015 and January-February 2017, after a major renovation, changes were made to the exposition, which made it possible to reorganize the museum space of the gallery into an ethnography section. The updated exhibition halls present the history of Kalush, sacred art, everyday life and nature of the region.

The basis of the exposition is made up of archaeological monuments of the Kalush region, ancient documents, church old prints, works of fine art, old photographs, materials from the history of bell-making, household items, etc.

The museum conducts search, local history research, publishing and exhibition activities.
