The chapel was built at the beginning of the 20th century by miners and consecrated in honor of the great martyr Barbara, who is considered the patron saint of miners. Kaluga miners, going to the mines, always prayed to Saint Barbara. In the 1980s, the chapel was renamed in honor of John the Baptist. The artist who undertook to renovate the chapel painted an icon of this saint. The monument is located on Chornovola Street. The initiator of the restoration of the chapel is Alla Tereshchenko, director of the Mineral Mining Company.
